I went to school, studied hard, got a good job…you’ve heard the story before…yes, my parents were from the Industrial era, so that was all they knew and instilled in me. Unfortunately I got caught up in the rat race…I didn’t realise it was a rat race…I always thought it was part of life…get married, have a good job, spend 1 hour in the traffic jam to get to work and another to get back…that’s until I heard the word ‘financial freedom’…from reading Robert Kiyosaki’s ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’.
He says in his book how there is 4 quadrants - the Employee, the Self-Employed, the Business Owner and the Investor. The only way to achieve financial freedom is to be a Business Owner or as an Investor. That was when I had my “aha” moment and I have never looked back since.
My goal first and foremost is to become debt free a.k.a financially free, in other words when my income exceeds my expenses. Yes, you can achieve it by having a brick and mortar business…but I found that the cost to start up a business was pretty high and I wouldn’t see an ROI for at least 2 years. Many well meaning friends roped me into multi-level marketing or network marketing with promises of financial freedom…don’t get me wrong, if you follow the system, you will eventually get there. But for me, the passion wasn’t there…although I’m forever grateful for attending those late night meetings, going for business seminars and buying business seminars. It made me more resilient..and it taught me a great concept ‘leverage’.
‘Leverage’ has always been at the back of my mind and I have finally found it in the ‘internet’. Yup! Internet is the best tool for leverage that the world has ever invented. And with the internet, and internet marketing, I am able to leverage my efforts towards achieving my goal of financial freedom.
